Privacy Policy

CleanPlate ("we", "us") is a household meal-planning app. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. We keep this short and specific: we do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Information you provide

• Account — your email address and password, used to create and secure your account.
• Household & preferences — your household name, cooking preferences, and for each household member: name, age group, appetite, dietary restrictions, and cuisine preferences. Dietary restrictions may reveal sensitive information (e.g. allergies or religious dietary practice); we use them only to tailor your meal plans and shopping list.
• Kitchen inventory — the food items you add to your pantry, fridge, freezer, and spices.
• Meal activity — your meal plans, shopping lists, meals you mark as cooked, ratings, and any meal photos you choose to add.

Camera & photos

• Receipt scanning — if you scan a grocery receipt, the image is sent to our receipt-reading provider to extract the item list, then used to suggest pantry items. Receipt images are processed for that purpose and are not retained by the provider after processing.
• Meal photos — photos you take or choose are stored in your account so they appear with your meal history. You control whether to add them.
• We request camera and photo-library access only for these features; you can decline or revoke access in iOS Settings.

How we use your information

• To build your weekly meal plan and generate an accurate shopping list.
• To save your kitchen inventory, meal history, ratings, and photos across sessions.
• To operate core features like receipt scanning and streaks.
• We do not use your information for advertising or cross-app tracking, and we do not sell it.

Subscription & payments

• Apple — CleanPlate offers an auto-renewing subscription (after a free trial), sold through the App Store. Apple processes your payment; we never receive or store your payment-card details.
• RevenueCat — manages your subscription status on our behalf. It receives your purchase and subscription events plus an app-specific account identifier so your subscription works across your devices. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Service providers

We share only the minimum necessary with the providers below. Each is contractually required to protect your data to a standard at least equal to this policy and to use it solely to provide their service to us. We do not sell your data.

• Supabase — hosting, database, authentication, and photo storage (stores your account, household data, and any meal photos).
• Anthropic (Claude AI) — an artificial-intelligence service that reads the text extracted from your grocery receipts and your ingredient names to sort them into pantry categories. Only that text is sent (no name, email, or account identity), and it is not used to train AI models.
• Veryfi — reads (OCR) the grocery-receipt images you choose to scan to extract the item list. Receipt images are processed for that purpose only and are automatically deleted by the provider after processing; they are not retained.
• Pexels — supplies recipe/food imagery based on dish names; no personal data is sent.
• Featurebase — powers the in-app feedback board; if you submit feedback it receives your email and name.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → account settings) or by emailing us at admin@cleanplateinc.com; we will delete your household data, inventory, meal history, and photos.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your information. Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/UK or California), you may have additional rights; contact us and we will honor applicable requests.

Children

CleanPlate is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and access is restricted to your authenticated account. Third-party API keys are held server-side, not in the app.

Changes

We may update this policy; we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
